Europa League Referees: April 10

Here are the referees for the Europa League Quarterfinals, to be played April 10

Pavel Kralovec (CZECH) Benfica v. AZ
Kralovec is a popular referee within FIFA, who was on the top 52 list for the World Cup, but didn’t quite make it.

Alberto Undiano Mallenco (ESP), Juventus v. Lyon
Undiano is also not on the World Cup list, losing out to Carlos Velasco Carballo. Still, it could be said that Undiano has arguably risen to Spain’s top spot this year; he’s refereed both El Clasicos this season, a feat that hasn’t happened in 20 years.

Viktor Kassai (HUN), Valencia v. Basel
It’s been a tough few years for Kassai. Once considered one of the world’s top referees, he was seen as certain for Brazil. But he was never able to overcome a disastrous Euro 2012 and issues with his team, and barely missed the cut. The fact that he’s here and not in Champions League says a lot.

On a brighter note: Basel is allowed to have fans at this match.

Gianluca Rocchi (ITA), Sevilla v. Porta
Ah, Gianluca. He’s never been quite able to eclipse his main Italian rival, Nicola Rizzoli, and he missed out on Brazil. He’s also card-happy as all f__k, but his recent Champions League outing was quite solid. Glad to see him here.
