PLAY THE ADVANTAGE

Here are the Serie A referee appointments for the weekend of March 15 and 16, and Monday March 17.

Hellas Verona has surprised everyone this season, and currently sit in 7th place. Their match against 5th place Inter on Saturday will be crucial for European spots next year, and it’ll be officiated by Luca Banti. Banti isn’t one of the huge names in Serie A, but I’ve noticed him getting more and more assignments. Undoubtedly, this is a big one for him.

Monday has two decent games: Roma (2) v. Udinese (14), and Torino (9) v. Napoli (3).

Paolo Tagliavento will referee Roma v. Udinese. Tagliavento is one of probably the top four or five Italian referees, and referees for UEFA and FIFA, as well. He’s also a hairdresser, which might be the awesomest “real job” I’ve heard for a referee yet. (Though Stephane Lannoy of France being a “video games distributor” comes pretty close.)

Daniele Doveri will be in Torino. I’ve watched him referee once this season, and I don’t know much about him other than he carded the crap out of people in that game, and he’s very good looking (see above). Which I know is exactly the kind of information you all come here for.
