Serie A Referees: March 1 & 2

One of the biggest matches is Sunday between AC Milan (still a threat despite their ninth place position) and league leaders Juventus. The call-up for this is a bit of a surprise: Marco Guida (above).
Guida is one of the younger up and comers in Italian refereeing, and recently attended a UEFA seminar for the first time. He’s very talented – and, if you’re keeping track, darn handsome – and has had some solid games this year in Serie A, but this will be the big test.
Juventus’ manager Antonio Conte had some strong words for Guida after he refereed them last year, so it should be interesting.
Roma and Inter Milan is also a big match and it goes to Mauro Bergonzi. Like Guida, he may not have the “name” of some of the more famous refs, but Bergonzi has been around a long time. He’s also a strong presence on the pitch, so is a good choice for a match between the second and fifth place teams.
