PLAY THE ADVANTAGE

Here are the referees for this upcoming weekend, March 29 and 30, and Monday, March 31.

So much for all the predictions that Andre Marriner (above, looking mildly deranged) would be in League One this week after he sent off the wrong guy against Arsenal at the weekend. He’s at Southampton on Saturday.

Note that neither of the ARs who helped lead him astray that day – Marc Perry and Scott Ledger – will be with him this time. Likewise, Anthony Taylor will be fourth official at Crystal Palace, giving bad advice to Lee Mason instead of Marriner. (He gets the much more reliable Lee Probert.) Hopefully, his team of Peter Bankes, Dave Bryan and Probert will give him a little more support this week.

Howard Webb is back after a break last week; he’ll be at Sunderland.

Mark Clattenburg is missing, however; he might be up for Europa League this coming week, or might just be taking a much needed break. Even Superman has to rest sometime…
