This Weekend’s Referees: Premier League

These are outdated appointments. Always check “Latest Appointments” on the sidebar for updated referee appointments.
Here are the Premier League referees for the weekend of February 22 and 23.
Probably the biggest match will be on Saturday; Chelsea is fighting for the title and Everton is fighting for Champions League, so Lee Probert (above) will have his work cut out for him.
Mark Clattenburg will referee Saints for the first time since Adam Lallana’s little hissy fit, when they travel to West Ham. This comes after Southampton petulantly demanded Clattenburg never referee their games again. Guess that didn’t work out too well for them.
If you’re making bets on English referees for Champions League this upcoming week, Clattenburg and Howard Webb are refereeing on Saturday, so they can theoretically take a Champions League game on Tuesday or Wednesday.
If we’re being honest, here, though, the competition for Champions League is steep, and Webb has been struggling a bit in Premier League. Clattenburg, on the other hand, has been refereeing like a boss. If England has a shot at Champions League refereeing, I’d say Clatts is your best bet.
good one

Sadly turned out not to be prescient. Webb gets Champions League while Clatts slogs it out at Sheffield Wednesday. No justice in the world…
